THE LEGEND OF THE HUMMINGBIRD
Serge ANDRE Composer
Serge André’s musical journey began in 1977 with the creation of his first professional orchestra, « WOOD LAPS. » Hailing from the Parisian region, he quickly gained recognition with this group. His talents soon caught the eye of singer Christian Delagrange’s production team, who enlisted him to assemble a band for the artist’s galas. On top of that, he kept busy by accompanying a variety of other performers on the piano.
In 1981, Serge André made a move to Studio 1 in Paris, where he donned multiple hats as an arranger, composer, and assistant sound engineer. This opened doors for him to collaborate with some big names in the music industry, including André Ceccarelli, André Arpino, Francis Darizcuren, and the Gibson Brothers.
By 1982, André’s skills were in such demand that he became a demonstrator for the AKAI International brand at the Paris Salon du Son. He also received a commission from Télé Europe to compose the film score for « L’Univers de Nerval. » Additionally, he found time to work on projects with soprano Suzan Bellin.

The Parisian hustle and bustle of show business, however, wasn’t offering the creative space André craved. Seeking a more conducive environment for composing, he decided to trade the Parisian life for the South of France. In Carcassonne, he finally found his groove, establishing the ESPACE MUSICAL. Here, he truly immersed himself in composition, creating SOLO concerts featuring a remarkable setup of 12 synthesizers and 2 computers on stage. These performances were held to benefit various charities, including Restos du Coeur, Rotary, La Table Ronde, Cancer Research, organizations supporting the disabled, and AIDS research.
From 1986 to 1990, André became a highly sought-after figure by local artists. Partnering with his wife Marie, they co-composed nearly 300 songs during this period. Together, they also founded the « Les Croisés de Chanson Française » association, which received sponsorship from the renowned singer Yves Duteil. While juggling these projects, Serge André continued to create custom music for various dance companies.

Native American legend
“One day,” says legend, “there was a huge forest fire. All terrified animals, aghast, watched helplessly disaster. Only the little hummingbird was bustling about, fetching a few drops with its beak to throw them on the fire. After a while, the armadillo, annoyed by this derisory agitation, said to him: “Hummingbird! Are you crazy ? You won’t put out the fire with these drops of water!
“And the hummingbird replied, “I know it, but I’m doing my part. »
